In 2002 I started work at the South Tahoe Association of REALTORS® as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant. During my time working at the office, I got to know many of the local real estate agents. I developed an interest in expanding my career opportunities and decided to pursue getting my real estate license. After my first child was born, I took the opportunity to study for the real estate exam, and received my CA and NV real estate licenses in 2004.
One of my beliefs is that it is necessary to be involved in local associations and organizations. I have been involved in the South Tahoe Associations of REALTORS® as a member of Committees starting the year I first got my license in 2004, and on the Board of Directors from 2006 through 2015. I was Vice President in 2009, President Elect in 2010, and President of the Association in 2011. In the years that followed my presidency I have stayed involved and served as the Long-Term Planning Committee Chairperson since 2013, during which time I oversaw the construction of a new large meeting room for the Association of REALTORS® and upgrades to the current building.
I also served on the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee which oversaw the Measure G funds that went toward the Lake Tahoe Unified School District for the millions of dollars in upgrades that have taken place over a 10 year period and have modernized and advanced the local schools to a level most hadn’t dreamed of.
I have been honored by my fellow REALTORS® by receiving the Rookie of the Year award in 2005, the Distinguished Service award in 2007 & 2009, a special “Unsung Hero” award in 2008, REALTOR® of the Year in 2011, and the unique “Super Star Award” in 2017.
Currently I work at Paradise Real Estate with my business partner Dan Spano, and together we serve our clients as a team to make sure all their needs are met. You can read our clients reviews here:

My background with budgets, committees, and other volunteer activities gives me a solid understanding of Boards and how they function. I know how to step outside of myself and do what is right for the general public/members even if it contradicts my personal feelings. I look forward to helping the community I love and care for.

Mary Ann Van Buskirk
Secretary
I was born in Roswell, New Mexico, (Before the Aliens Landed) and was raised all over the place. As an Example: I went to 16 different schools before I started high school. My parents and I moved to Southern California in 1956 and I graduated from West Covina High School.
Dick and I met while working for the same bank and married in 1963. We have three children, two girls and a boy, and four grandchildren, ages 26, 12, 9, and almost 3. That’s three girls and one boy. We moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1977 after purchasing a small business. We “grew” the business until 2013 when Dick decided to retire. I have almost always worked a second job and I have worked for El Dorado County since 1990. Since 1995 I have been in the Recorder Clerk’s Office.
Wanting to be a part of this community, I was a member of the Tahoe Sierra Soroptimist Club for nearly 30 years and then a member of Kiwanis of Lake Tahoe for the last four years. I am currently the secretary.
Working 70 hours a week, 7 days a week leaves not much time for other interests but my hobby is working scale miniatures. My two daughter and my oldest granddaughter join me in teaching a workshop each summer – we call it “Summer at Tahoe”. We are planning right now for the 21st Annual Workshop. It is a Late 19th century Sheriff’s Office.
