Our Mission at Lake Humane Society is to provide a gentle and caring haven for the homeless, abandoned, and injured animals of Lake County and persevere in defending and protecting animal life through education, integrity, and leadership.
What that means to us is that healthy and adoptable animals stay with us or in foster homes until they are adopted. Our staff works with the community to rescue homeless animals, promote adoption, education and advocacy for animals in need.
We do not receive any government funding nor are we funded or operated by any national humane organization. We rely solely on contributions from individuals and local businesses that care about animals and our service to the community. We also depend on the dedication of our volunteers who work alongside our staff to help us care for animals, deliver our programs, and govern our organization.
Providing a safe haven is an important part of our mission, but it’s only one part. Our vision is to continue to grow and develop the programs and services we offer while working towards preventing animal homelessness and finding compassionate homes for thousands of cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, and other small animals each year.
