Mary Ann Van Buskirk
South Tahoe Chamber Board Secretary

Mary Ann Van BuskirkI was born in Roswell, New Mexico, (Before the Aliens Landed) and was raised all over the place. As an Example: I went to 16 different schools before I started high school. My parents and I moved to Southern California in 1956 and I graduated from West Covina High School.

Dick and I met while working for the same bank and married in 1963. We have three children, two girls and a boy, and four grandchildren, ages 26, 12, 9, and almost 3. That’s three girls and one boy. We moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1977 after purchasing a small business. We “grew” the business until 2013 when Dick decided to retire. I have almost always worked a second job and I have worked for El Dorado County since 1990. Since 1995 I have been in the Recorder Clerk’s Office.

Wanting to be a part of this community, I was a member of the Tahoe Sierra Soroptimist Club for nearly 30 years and then a member of Kiwanis of Lake Tahoe for the last four years. I am currently the secretary.

Working 70 hours a week, 7 days a week leaves not much time for other interests but my hobby is working scale miniatures. My two daughter and my oldest granddaughter join me in teaching a workshop each summer – we call it “Summer at Tahoe”. We are planning right now for the 21st Annual Workshop. It is a Late 19th century Sheriff’s Office.
